Is Your Mutual Fund Manager On This List?

In today’s WSJ (subscription required) the Money & Investing section mentions fund managers that have a least $1 million of their own money invested in the fund they manage. The good guys are: Edward Bousa of the Vanguard Wellington Fund. Gordon Crawford of American Funds. William Miller lll of Legg Mason. Stephen Petersen of Fidelity Equity-Income. Andrew Pilara of RS Partners Fund. Brian Rogers of T. Rowe Price Equity Income Fund-Where are the ladies? When I was looking at fund managers for clients this is one of the things I really liked to see. I liked the fact that the manager was already a multi-millionaire and hopefully was in the business because he was very passionate about it and wanted to be number one.
Didn’t always work out that way-but it was a good starting point. Invest well and enjoy the journey 🙂 Steve

This should include Oakmark funds. The managers there have significant amount of money invested in the funds they manage. Also, correct me if I am wrong, the CEO of Washington Mutual has is largest holding in the company he manages.

Thanks for the heads up Real Returns. According to the Journal they said “At the largest fund companies”, so the list does not appear to be all inclusive. To get ownership data on any fund the data is listed in the Statement of Additional Information and available to investors on request.
