My Frugal Deal of The Week

Leave it to those FunSeekers over at Hertz to bring us a modified Ford Shelby Mustang GT. It will be in the Denver fleet next week and I promise not to see how fast the 330 horsepower Shelby will do. You also have to be at least 25 to rent this screamer. The cost is a bargain basement $100 + dollars a day.

I didn’t realize that Hertz had what they called a “fun fleet” which they started back in the 60’s and the Shelby was part of this fleet. There were a few problems though.. People were renting the Shelby and taking it to the race track and winning races! Some really bold renters were “borrowing” the engine out of the Shelby and replacing the Shelby engine with the dog that was in their 1966 mustangs! Those old Shelby’s that Hertz rented out in the 60’s are now selling for $120,000 or more at auction because so few were made.

Hertz asks that you return the car, all of the car, and promise not to race it šŸ™‚ When the cars hit 16,000 to 18,000 miles Hertz will sell them-Ford dealers get first crack. Now, if I could just figure out how to ask Frugal for Life for that $100 loan!

PS For those of you wondering where the Frugality is, Consider this ad: For Sale 2006 Porsche 911 Turbo S CAB. 72 Miles $129,950
My wife told me to sell it or else!

You see, if you just go over to Hertz and spend $100+ plus dollars you will save a ton of money by getting this foolish streak out of your system!
