Sunday Toast: The Spirit of Barbaro

I love the spirit, courage and dignity of the Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro…It broke my heart to see his leg snap and dangle in mid air. I know it’s only a horse but I admire courage in any form.

It reminds me that for the remainder of the year whether I’m giving a keynote speech, coaching or consulting I’m going to bring that same spirit and dignity to every client I come in contact with-and hopefully make a positive impact in their life!

Thanks for the Reminder Barbaro!

To me – this was as bad as when Joe Thiesman broke his leg during the football game years back – Maybe worse! I hope that Barbaro recovers from this devasting injury. God bless him and all who care for him…..

No horse, let alone a horse like this, is “only a horse.”

Watching the race, I had a terrible feeling with Barbaro broke early out of the gate. I had a feeling something was going to go terribly wrong.

If there is anyone who remembers the match race with Ruffian — one of the most spectacular race horses ever — you may have experienced the same deja vu feelings I did. Now it’s a waiting game. Ruffian went through surgery and then, afterward, kicked and bucked so much they had to euthanize her. Fortunately, Barbaro seems to be doing better at this point. But it’s a long, long way to go. Please keep this athlete in your prayers.
